University of Melbourne Student Precinct

The New Student Precinct will make a significant contribution to the transformation of the on-campus student experience at Parkville by delivering a world-class student hub for the whole campus community.

It will be a vibrant centre of activity that will co-locate student services and activities closer to the new heart of the campus, and to primary transport links.

Light Warrior Fitout

A fresh new office for Light Warrior Investments & MAdE Establishments. This commercial fit-out was catering for a rapidly growing team with hearts of gold. A hint of Greek pride plus a flavor wall to excite the senses isn’t amiss when designing George Calombaris’ home base.

Kalora Park Sports Pavilion

The Kalora Park Sports Club Extension is the home of the Narre Warren Football Netball teams. With the magpies as their logo, the original facilities were adorned with black & white streamers and became a clear reference point to celebrate the long history and nostalgia within the club whist galvanizing a sense of optimism for a more inclusive and accessible space. Built on a shoe string budget, with many donated community hours, this has already become a well-loved contribution to country life.

“A brilliant bit of architecture, economic, pragmatic, memorable and exciting!” John Gollings

RMIT Design Hub Exhibition

High Risk Dressing / Critical Fashion looks at the ideas and community coalescing within contemporary fashion practice today through the lens of the Fashion Design Council (FDC). The FDC (1983–1993) was a membership-based organisation established to support, promote and provoke avant-garde Australian fashion.

Three local architecture practices – Sibling Architecture, Studiobird and WOWOWA – have been commissioned to produce scenography that references the creative, social and promotional spaces central to FDC activities – the Office, the Bar and the Shop. Each studio has been asked to design a set that captures the shift outlined in our title: from an emerging, provocative, collaborative creative culture to today’s world of internationally-networked, conceptually-driven contemporary fashion practice.

Literature Lane Tower

Melbourne’s new  Neo-Pastel Brutalist multi-residential micro tower to be located close to the RMIT hub on Little La Trobe Street. Called ‘Literature Lane‘ for it’s celebration of the North facing lane-way behind – this playful, 1 apartment per level building will feature a site specific work spanning across all levels by artist Reko Rennie.

Peeling away from it’s neighbour to allow for morning light, each apartment has 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom and a generous curved balcony to fit an outdoor setting and a sister curve big enough to fit a bbq. In an effort to Build Quality and create vertical neighborhoods, the design aims to achieve a high standard of living with cross ventilation, natural light, good ceiling heights, roof garden and street engagement.

Port Melbourne Seaside Pool

There is nothing more Australian than having a swim in your backyard pool or spending endless hours at your favourite beach. Many Aussie adults feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia when they recall countless childhood hours spent in and around the water. As more and more families move closer to the urban lifestyle and farewell suburbia, we feel that our kids are perhaps missing out on making those same cherished childhood memories. The solution, a public pool by the beach!

An iconic seaside pool was first suggested to the City of Port Phillip some 20 years ago but until now the idea was never given serious consideration. Rohan Cresp, a passionate local, commissioned WOWOWA Architecture & Interiors to create these render images in the hope they will inspire other likeminded individuals to invest in the community of Port Melbourne.

The intended pool, which will sit beside the Port Melbourne Yacht Club (PMYC), will be a visual gateway to Melbourne and to the State of Victoria. The site will not only welcome international cruise ships, but also greet the daily ferry passengers from Tassie. Such a facility would benefit the Community of Port Melbourne, the surrounding suburbs, and particularly the schools in the area. Our wish is for both local and state governments, along with communities and corporations to get behind this fantastic proposed facility, and support the locals who have re-sparked the idea from 2 decades ago.
